Saturday, March 2 Azalea Festival in Ravine State Gardens in Palatka
This area is uncharacteristic of Florida in that you are viewing a blanket of colors from above looking down into a Ravine which was a WPA project. There are old fashioned rope bridges, numerous trails, however, you need not be very mobile to view it since there are photographic overlooks throughout the park. A stop is made at the Artesian Springs at the bottom of the trail. Other highlights of the town include a WWI memorial décor on the bridge overlooking the St. Johns River, Florida’s oldest diner, antique shops, hanging live oaks and Antebellum Plantation homes. $50– includes transportation, admissions, tour and guide. Leave Suntree 7:45a, SB 8a and CB 8:30a Arrive back around 6:30 p.m.
