West Carrollton Doggie Dive

Every year toward the end of the swimming season, the Wilson Park Pool opens its gates for dogs and their people to enjoy some fun in the sun. There is open swim for dogs and owners and you cannot swim unless you have a dog. Proceeds collected during the event will go to The Greater Dayton Humane Society, Luv4K9s, SICSA, Ohio Pug Rescue, Robyn's Nest, Team Greyhound, and Sheltered paws. There will be contests and a Mutt Strut of adoptable dogs.

There is a $5 admission per family and you will be required to sign a waiver at the entrance stating that your dog is up-to-date on shots and vaccinations.

Leashes during the event are not required, but getting your dog from the car/parking lot and to the entrance of the pool will require a leash.

Schedule of Events:
12:00 - Look alike contest
12:15 - Ugliest Dog Contest
12:30 - Stupid Pet Tricks
1:30 - Adoptable Mutt Strut across the entrance breezeway
2:15 - Tennis Ball Relay
2:50 50/50 Raffle Drawing (winner must be present)

** Wilson Park Pool is located within Wilson Park - access to the parking lot is available from South Elm Street

We were there, but only for a short time. Matilda was having a blast once she realized you could combine chasing the ball with swimming! (We had to take her out of the pool every so often so she wouldn't wear herself out!) Unfortunately, though, she tore a toe nail, and the vet said she was done for the day. I looked a little, but didn't recognize anybody from DDU. We have got to get to more meet-ups! Hope everyone had a great time!

Our family attends this event every year. Here's some photos from the 2011 event (2012 wasn't that great for photos unfortunately): http://thrumylens.org/photography/photos-from-the-2011-humane-society-of-greater-dayton-doggy-dive-festival-fund-raiser-at-wilson-park-pool/

Hey guys. Not to be a downer but a public release has been issued to dig owners about a deadly virus spreading in ohio. Here is the link: http://m.abc22now.com/news/Canine_Circovirus_Warning due to the lack of information about this I will not be attending. I am super bummed bc this is by far my favorite dog event.

Sorry Tasha that I had to change to a "NO". Been trying to introduce Maizie to H2O with a kiddie pool 1" deep. She isn't interested in the least. I know sprinklers scare her when the drops hit her? Poor dog.
She would want to leave shortly after arrival? ( She won't enjoy this since she's not ready for a pool or any water.). I'll bow out so someone else can attend that would enjoy the event... :)
    Thanks

Michael- thanks for the heads up and sorry you won't be able to make it. I understand that it can be scary for dogs. The fact that the event will be large and crowded compounded with the statement that water isn't her favorite thing may be a bit much for her. Oh well. I'll try and schedule an event out at Francis Kennels. They have a big pond in the middle and it won't be as crowded with just DDU members. You can try and introduce her to water then :).

Sorry Amy. I'd love to bring her, but she's just starting to come out of her shell so to speak and the size of the event would be a bit too much. I know she'd want to go home after 5 min. Wish I knew more about her past Hx (she's a rescued dog)

Thanks that sounds good. She is still timid around dogs, crowds, and the water thing too. I like getting her out, but I thought she'd be further along?
