Morning Hike - Twin Creek - 10 miles - 2, 3.5, 4 or 5 mile option available!

This hike will start at the Chamberlain Rd. parking lot.  We will start out on the Purple Trail, which is 2 miles, and fairly flat and level, before hitting the hills of the orange trail.  If you want to do the 2 mile option, this is a great sign up for you to hike with us at the beginning, making a short 2 mile easy loop and then passing back by the cars.  If you like the hike and want to challenge yourself for more, there is another option to add 1.6 more miles before returning to the cars, and even a third option to add 2 more miles on the hike, making it a total of 4 miles for the day.  If you feel up to two nice hills, you can add 3 miles on and make it a five mile hike.  For the brave at heart and those wanting the most challenging hike our Metroparks have to offer, Hike the entire way with us, as we hit the the orange and yellow trails, and weave back and forth on the red and blue trails to give us the best of the challenging hills and hit the 10 mile mark on this hike.  It will be a GREAT workout, for sure.  Bring water to drink, and a snack or even lunch if you want, as we will be taking a short break a little over half-way into the hike.  This hike will be challenging and has some awesome climbs and awesome downhill sections as well, so it will hit both the quads and the hams equally!  Proper footwear and trekking poles are recommended, as this place can get muddy - depending on the weather, and with a few of the steeper descents, use of the poles really beats the old fashioned "butt-scoot!"  I hope to see you out there, this will be a good one!!

That was the best hike I have been on this year in the Dayton area, by far. Snow was deep, wet, and made for an awesome workout.....Even after returning to the parking lot after 8 miles, we still went on for 2.5 more, just to hit 10 miles....AWESOME! Great crowd, great company, great conversations, and great fun....Thanks everyone for going today!

A beautiful, snowy adventure due to some low hanging branches. Thanks again John. I am disappointed that I had to go to work and missed the last leg... maybe next time!

Everyone who is coming on this hike, if you want to bring a lunch, we will be stopping at the shelter near the Eby Rd. Parking area for a short break to eat and enjoy the views. Katie has volunteered to carry everyone's lunch in my backpack, so everyone should bring a gallon of their favorite beverage, LOL!!
