Grant Park 7.5 Mile Hike

Let's celebrate the time change and arrival of warmer weather!

This is a 7.5 mile, brisk paced, hike at Grant Park. We will hike the yellow, brown, blue, red trails and lots of unmarked trails to stitch together a 7.5 mile hike with minimal overlap. You will see plenty of pretty scenery on this hike but this is not a sight seeing hike. This hike is meant for exercise as we will hike at a steady pace of 3mph. This hike will last about ~2.5 hours. Meet at the Nature Nook parking lot on McEwen Road.

Recommended Equipment: Trekking poles, snacks and water.

Description of Park:

Grant Park is a 187-acre natural area. Trails in the park lead along creeks and through meadow, forest, prairie, and wetland habitats. The trails are of varying difficulty; some follow ridge lines or bottom lands, while others climb fairly steep hills.

Just in case some may not have yet embraced challenging opportunities to appreciate the nature in our great parks - they should be so honored to walk a mile (or 7 ) with this group. Thank you all & know it will be Susan's & my honor to prepare that iron skillet feast for every one of you (including husbands) at H & D very soon. Tho just a single picture Andy - a very special one & reflective of the ambitious nature of our spirits.

Great hike! Muddy, sloppy, slippery, slick and tough going but a fun hike. Thank you everyone for a brisk pace hike! And a special thank you for crossing the swollen creek with me!

Just a friendly reminder that this hike has a limit of 7 people and the trip is full. If your plans have changed and you are not attending please change your RSVP to no. This is a brisk pace, 2.5 hour hike with one short rest break. The goal is to be finished with this hike at 11:00am. If the trails are really muddy we will slow our pace down and shorten this hike by a mile or so. Regardless you will get 2.5 hours of brisk exercise.

Kathie - This is my standard reminder for my Grant Park brisk pace hike. It was not directed at you. We both know the routine. If you can't keep up there are short cuts you can take or you can finish the hike solo. No different than any other Grant Park hike I lead. I want my cup back!

If I didn't get lost in Grant Park, I'd go but, alas, you'll have to wait for your cup :).
