Backpack Training Hike - Huffman to Eastwood

Time for another hike with Mtn Laurel. This will be a moderate paced hike with backpacks. I will be traveling about 3.0 mph. We will be hiking about 4 to 5 miles from Huffman MetroPark to Eastwood MetroPark along part of the Buckeye trail. We will pass by the Wright Brothers Memorial, which has a small museum. This is a hike to get us newbies use to hiking with a backpack. It seems even a lightly loaded pack makes my back and shoulders ache if I hike for 7 to 8 miles with it. Wear your hiking boots and bring your backpacks. Please dress for the weather whatever it maybe. I look forward to seeing you there.

I figured out the directional error that confused Garmin. The actual address is 4149 Upper Valley Pike. If you put that address into google maps, it gets you directly to the right spot. The MetroParks address has people from south of town getting onto OH-4 too far north, already past the Huffman Dam parking lot.

It was a much longer colder hike than I expected. It took me a while after I got home to stop shivering. Thanks everyone for coming I really enjoyed your company.

Another great Laurel-led hike. 5 miles was really probably closer to 8 but it's best to underestimate :). Great fun!!

I want to wear my ice cleats just one more time but, alas, I think it's too warm for that. I'll have to make do with my long underwear and ear bags.
