Time to explore the horse trails at Carriage Hill MetroPark. We will cover 4 to 5 miles of trails at a moderate speed of 2.5 to 3 mph. I have never been on the horse trails in this park and wanted to explore them. Dress for the weather whatever it may be and wear your hiking boots.
Meet at the horse trailer parking lot. This is the first left turn after you enter the park from Rte 201.
Description of the park:
The natural areas of Carriage Hill MetroPark consist mainly of former farmland and woodlots. Large, open grasslands, diverse successional areas, created ponds and wetlands, a 14-acre lake, and two forest tracts make for a very diverse experience
Too much mud and horse holes! Yuck! The company was terrific and those donkeys were so cute! It was a real workout and the stream crossing was a challenge.

Laurel -- If I take 70E to exit 38 (201/Brandt Pike), should I turn LEFT onto 201 and look for the horse trailer lot? The google directions have me turning right onto 201 and that looks wrong.

Laurel, have you checked with the Stables? They have horse camps going on in the Spring and might want to be contacted re: using the trail.
