The Hiking Twins Hike at Twin Creek

You are in for a treat Laura & Mountain Laurel will led you on a 8 mile hike at Twin Creek. Your challenge is to try to keep our names straight. We are going to try to dress alike to confuse you. LOL! We will travel at a moderate pace of about 2.5 to 3 mph over hilly terrain. After the hike join us for dinner at Laff's bar in Germantown. Dress for the weather whatever it may be. Wear your hiking boots. Hiking poles are also recommended. Bring a snack to eat during the hike to keep your strength up.

About the park:

This outstanding natural area contains steep, wooded ravines containing mature forest with a diverse understory plant life, extensive areas of second growth forest, floodplain forest, several large managed grasslands, a large scenic pond, and the beautiful Twin Creek. In addition, the MetroPark contains a winding prehistoric Indian mound and a scenic hilltop vista. The MetroPark is linked by the wooded Twin Creek Corridor that connects it to Germantown MetroPark to the north.

I want to thank everyone for being so friendly for my first hike with the Dayton Hikers! Laura timing was impeccable, getting back just in time to miss the downpour! Hope to hike with everyone soon.

thank you all for making my first hike with DH a good one. The length was good considering the heat. I think if I would have hiked 2 more miles I would have had no more water left in me considering all the sweating I did.

I had a great workout and we got back just in time before the big down pour. It was nice hiking with old friends and new.

Thank you for being our fearless leader in the front :-). Great timing, too, btw, with the rain.

How did the Twins time our hike to end right at the first rumble of thunder? Amazing.

    • Mountain L.

I'm not sure how we did that but I did the same thing the day before at Germantown MetroPark.

A very nice hike. Enjoyed the hills. Six miles was the right length considering the temperature. Nice job Laurel or is it Laura?

A great sunny day with a fun group of hikers. I enjoyed spending time on the trail with some loyal Dayton Hikers as well as meeting some new people. And we ended the hike just in time for the rain!

Is it best to wear long pants because of bugs, or is shorts fine?

    June 22, 2013

    • Mountain L.

Shorts are fine! Just bring bug repellant.

How long is the hike going to be? The announcement says 8 mile but this appears to be an old announcement from spring time. Will tomorrow's hike also cover 8 miles or are there options to go a shorter distance (say shorter loops)?

    June 22, 2013

    • Mountain L.

There is an option to go only 6 miles if you wish. This hike was original posted in the Spring but was canceled at that time due to rain.
