
Andy "Captain Blue" Niekamp is completing his Buckeye Trail thru hike on June 15 at 4:00pm at Deeds Point MetroPark in Dayton. Come join this three mile moderate paced hike from Eastwood MetroPark to Deeds Point MetroPark along the Mad River bike path. Hike with Captain Blue as he finishes the final three miles of his 1,400+ mile Buckeye Trail journey.
Meet at the bridge near the Mad River Bike Path in Eastwood Metropark in the parking lot farthest from Harshman Road. The hike will begin at 3:00pm so we can arrive at Deeds Point by 4:00pm. Or come to Deeds Point MetroPark at 4:00pm and be there when Andy's finishes his journey.
Afterward there will be a reception at the Five Rivers Metroparks Outdoor Recreation office. Cake and ice cream will be served in a comfortable air conditioning building one block from Deeds Point. The Outdoor Recreation office is located at Outdoor 224 N. St. Clair St., Dayton, Ohio 45402. Meet Brent and Amy Anslinger who thru hiked the Buckeye Trail in 2003.

Any thoughts on a shuttle, parking a car or two at Deeds Point to drive back to the start, or anyone want to hike the 3 miles back?
