Topic: Hiking Vermont's Long Trail End To End
Presenter: Andy Niekamp
Presentation Description: Take a photo journey on Vermont's 270 mile Long Trail. The Long Trail is the oldest long-distance trail in the United States. The Long Trail follows the main ridge of the Green Mountains from Massachusetts to the Canadian border as it crosses Vermont's highest peaks. It was the inspiration for the Appalachian Trail, which coincides with it for one hundred miles in the southern third of the state. As it winds its way to Canada, the Trail climbs rugged peaks and passes pristine ponds, alpine bogs, hardwood forests and swift streams. The Long Trail is steep in some places, muddy in others, and rugged in most. Learn why this trail has the reputation for being the nation's most difficult long distance trail mile for mile. This presentation will not last more than one hour.

8:00 pm-9:00pm - Go Shopping. Get A 20% Discount! All Dayton Hikers members will receive a special 20% discount on their hiking gear, backpacking gear, camping gear, footwear and apparel purchases at Gander Mountain this evening. Stock up on outdoor gear. To get the 20% discount you must RSVP "yes" and show a Dayton Hikers card to the cashier. If you don’t have a card you can get one the evening of the Get Together in the meeting room. This discount is not available to the public so make sure you RSVP "yes".
