Eleanor Moseman: One Woman, Her Bicycle and 15,000 Miles Across Asia

Adventure Speaker Series
Wright State & Five Rivers MetroParks

In the spring of 2010, armed with a fluency in Mandarin and a history of bike commuting, Eleanor took off on a two year cycling adventure. She went slow, avoided well-known routes, and took time to get to know the locals. While her exploits include braving sandstorms in the Gobi Desert, camping at -25°C in the Tianshan Mountains, and weathering a blizzard in Kyrgyzstan, Moseman’s aim were cultural experiences such as building a mud house in Yunnan, receiving a sponge bath from Tajik women, riding a horse during a Buzkashi match in Kyrgyzstan, and witnessing a Shaman ritual in U-Tsang Tibet. Learn more of Eleanor’s extensive bicycle explorations by visiting www.wandercyclist.com. This program is being co-hosted by the Miami Valley Outdoor Club, www.mvoc.net.

The trip looked and sounded amazing, just didn't get to hear about it all. A little hard to do when it is a 2 year trip of a life time told in one hour!

Earthy and unpolished, Eleanor Moseman's presentation on her 15,500 mile bike riding quest through China for the ultimate photo was educational and entertaining. She related well to the audience with simple sophistication and visual acuity. Thank you!

Fascinating story that unfortunately didn't conclude due to time. Really enjoyed the journey.
