Avid hiker seeking to expand horizons beyond Cincinnati. I know the grass is greener......
Hiking mostly, but will backpack if the "carrot" is sufficiently enticing.
Enjoy the out-of-doors in all seasons; each one has its own special charms.
Germantown Metro, Yellow Springs to Clifton Mill area
Still developing favorites, but Hocking Hill is high on the list. But don't discount Cincinnati Nature Center.

Ah Steve, too bad! It was nice biking with you and I was looking forward to running into you again. Hope all is well with you! Peg
Another good tip on paddles. At first I bought the cheapie $35 paddles and that was fine...for a while. What you experienced out at Stonelick was the Carlisle Magic paddle...way, way better than the cheapie and only a difference of $35 vs $45. Spend the extra ten bucks...you'll thank yourself many times over later. I got the aluminum handle...there'
s also a fiberglass handle for about $15 more or about $60. I'm fine with the aluminum...othe
r like the fiberglass. Just don't buy the cheapie.
This really works for getting your boat registered. Don't even try to do it any other way. Get the Alternative Decal registration form online from ODNR.
Call the ODNR Watercraft office at East Fork. They will tell you to fax the completed form and the bill of sale to them. About 30 minutes later call and give them your credit card info (Visa or MC) and they will put the decal in the mail. This way you can get your registration decal in a couple of days. The fax number is [masked].
Hey Steve...What's your boat status? Haven't kept up with you on this. At Winton, this is a very large lake (as compared to Stonelick) and there won't be any chance to share boats. I'm also leading a group from Tri-State Kayakers for the same time, so more folks are sure to come out, but I don't have any idea as to their extra boats, if you still need one. Otherwise, I now have an extra pfd and paddle. Let me know...Tom

Oh, and if you don't mind, I might steal one for my profile pic. :)
Great pics, Steve! They say a good photog can work wonders with even a "toy" camera. :)
