Register for the event with Skills Matter here:

Come along and join us for the second DeNormalised London meetup.

We'll take a step back and look at the NOSQL landscape as well as some of the larger issues associated with Big Data.

18:30 - drinks, pizza and chat

19:00 - talks

Chris Harris of 10gen will give an overview of the current NoSQL landscape.

Dan Harvey of will give an introduction to MapReduce and Hadoop. Data Processing in the World of NoSQL? An Introduction to Map Reduce. How and why did data processing at large scale evolve it's way into map reduce and how is this useful as an addition to NoSQL databases in your data processing pipelines.

Francine Bennett of MastadonC. Fran will be talking about the carbon impact of cloud computing, giving an idea of the overall emissions generated, the factors which determine how many emissions your own work is creating, and the business and technical tradeoffs involved in reducing them.

Contact [masked] if you are interested in giving a talk.

20:00 - more data + tech chat

Very interesting. As a newcomer to NoSQL and BigData is was very useful to get an overview of the different flavours of NoSQL database. Also nice to see that people are starting to think about the environmental impact of cloud computing and, more importantly, doing something about it!
