My first awareness of the existence of ASL was in August of 1970 on my first day of work at the Iowa School for the Deaf, when 40 signing kids showed up to the dorm unit for which I was to be the house mother.
We are very open and friendly to signers of all levels from absolute beginner to natives! And our meeting place is very friendly and has delicious food and drinks!
