Groundhog Day Jugglers Festival

This event promises a great occasion for stop-action photography.  Jugglers, unicyclists, and hoopers will practice their skills in the gym before Saturday's 2PM competition.  There will be additional photo opportunities when the Seed and Feed Marching Abominable Band opens the 2PM performance.  Daytime events are free for spectators (and photographers), although donations are appreciated.  There is free parking in the Yaarab Shrine parking lot.  That lot tends to fill up before Saturday's 2PM performance.  Additional parking is available at Ponce de Leon Center on Hunt Street directly across from the Shrine Center.

We are welcome to take photos at any time during the practice and warm up sessions or during the performances.  However, NO FLASH or other auxiliary lighting is permitted during the 2PM performance on Saturday.

Some of you may want to return later in the day on Saturday for the free fire jugglers "Light Extravaganza" at 9:30PM in the Yaarab Shrine parking lot.

Went in the evening. It was quiet. Fun to watch mostly amateurs and the fire and light show had some really good performers. Yay for women hula hoopers! Was recovering from being sick so just took a little point and shoot. Pictures weren't great but the experience was fun.

I had a great time at my first meet up....wish I had known some of the other meet up attendees. A lot of my photos were blurry...just couldn't get my shutter fast enough to stop the motion.

Meeting others was kinda odd for me as well, especially as a new person to the group. I didn't want to go up to everyone with a camera 'thinking' that they was apart of our group. Maybe we can or already have a way to identify members. However, I still met alot of people.

Frank, Saturday's meetup at the Juggler's Festival was a little different from most of our meetups since it was also a public event. Please come to another of our meetups where there will be more opportunity to get to know other members of our group.

I enjoyed that band so much! They were worth the trip and all the photographs. I had fun!

Very, very interesting event. Never have seen anything like it before. Not exactly my style of photography, but I had a very good time.

How did that "shooting people" work for you?

Lighting and Motion made it a challenge, but I got several decent shots.

Motion shots are still pretty new to me but I had a great time practicing with my new camera. This was a great opportunity to give it a try!

Enjoyed the event. It gave me an opportunity to take challenging shots for a relatively newcomer to photography.

This was my very first meetup. I enjoyed the entertainment. I has just a little trouble with shooting movement. But I'm getting better. I think its my lens...lol

I've never been to this before so I am looking forward to going. I moved to Georgia a little bit ago and only now just beginning to scratch all the photo opportunities that it holds. This should be lots of fun! And, with a new camera to boot...ahhh, the opportunities await!
