The Atlanta Mini Maker Faire is only a couple weeks away! Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Georgia Tech from 10am to 5pm. This is a free, family-friendly celebration featuring lots of hand on exhibits and activities. And of course, Decatur Makers will be there. We will have two adjacent tents and host 4 different activities:
- Origami flexagons
- 3D flexagons with wire and straws
- Oobleck Hopscotch (8 ft long, full of bizzarre non-newtonian fluid)
- Bottle cutter (see
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFXngPx3w3M starting at 3m:38s)
There is still work to do to get ready, so our October meetup will be to test out the activities above, to make sure everything works smoothly at the Faire.
BRING empty wine bottles (cleaned with label removed) if you want to help test our bottle cutter. We could also use some cases to hold bottles, and we'll need a lot more such bottles for the faire (anyone know a restaurant or bar owner who can help us out?).
Whether or not you can make the October meetup, we REALLY need your help at the Faire. Please volunteer for one or more 2 hour shifts using this volunteerspot link
To sign up you just need to enter your email address and select one or more times you work. You do NOT need to register an account on VolunteerSpot. No experience is needed to volunteer.
