International TableTop Day

We will be participating in the International Table Top Day gaming event sponsored by Geek & Sundry.  This event asks people to get together and share their love of board games.  We will be partnering with the Decatur Public Library to promote gaming in our community.  This will be a great forum to show folks who we are and that gaming is not just for little kids any more.

What kind of games should we bring?  Well, we want to make sure that every game we bring is family friendly.  That doesn't necessarily mean bringing Monopoly and Sorry, however.  We all have lots of games that can be played by families.  Catan, Ticket to Ride, Carcassone, and many others can be played by families.

So what are we doing?  Our members who volunteer to help run games will be providing games and running them.  If you have something you want to bring, please be sure you know the rules fairly well so we can make sure our gaming flows as well as possible.  We will probably try to run shorter versions of each game while still sticking to the rules as best we can.  For example, if a game requires 10 victory points, maybe we only play to 5.  That way players get more time to play more games and a better variety of the types of games that are out there!

Can I come and play games?  Of course you can.  This is an open event to anyone who wants to come!  While we are trying to expose the public to gaming, we are also using this time as an event for our group as well.  Please come on down and lets have a great turn out!

It sounds like we'll have a good selection of games (and Gamers)! I think we'll order pizzas (I'm pretty sure the Library was okay with that in that room, but we'll double check). So, if you want to participate in that, bring $10 CASH MONEY. We'll order as much pizza as we collect from the group, and it'll be communal. If you want to make your own arrangements, that's fine too.

Is there any plan to coordinate so that we won't all bring the same game? Should we try to stagger our attendance so we always have a presence there? Am I making this too difficult???

Yeah, I'll be there from the get-go to the end. I'll be bringing King of Tokyo, Forbidden Island, and one or two more "easy" games

I can bring Catan and Ticket to Ride. I have Carcassonne but never played it. If some other responsible Decatur Gamer can help me, I will be happy to get out both Catan and Ticket. If not, then I have to choose one or the other. Too many small pieces to keep track of. I'll bring both games in any case, and Carcassonne too just in case somebody else can run it.

I was going to suggest Ogre/GEV but they don't have the bagged game anymore, just miniatures rules and miniatures. I don't have that kind of money to get a set together in time, maybe Illuminati.
