Confronting Mortality

NEW LOCATION!!!

I was contemplating this topic when I heard Steve Jobs' reported last words - "Oh, wow." But now that the deep thinking community has lost a giant in the name of Christopher Hitchens, I am compelled to address this topic to chime in the new year, especially since my mom and I met him at a book signing a few years ago.

We know we will die, but who among us has truly faced the end of life? Had a brush with death? Lost a loved one or very close friend? Been involved in an incident where you saw or knew people who died?

This is not intended to be morbid, ghoulish or an exercise in pathos. This is supposed to be a cold, hard look at what it is like when life ends, on a personal level, examining experiences and expectations.

Here are a few items to get your juices flowing:

More to come, so stay tuned... and Happy Holidays!

Not an easy subject, but there was great insight into this tough topic. Very robust and incredibly interesting.

Due to the death of a close friend, I have to cancel to attend her delayed (due to pending autopsy results) memorial/funeral. I'm so sorry Todd - I really wanted to come for this topic as I've had 3 deaths occur the last 10 days of December. Wish you could videotape it for me to watch later. :-(

I always try to wrap things up by 1 PM, but you can leave anytime, even though many stay beyond 1 to continue the discussion.
