Announcing a new Meetup for Deep Thinkers!

What: This means WAR! Says who?

When: Sunday, November 7,[masked]:30 AM

Where: King's Hawaiian Bakery & Restaurant
2808 Sepulveda Blvd
Torrance, CA 90505

There has been a lot of discussion lately about ways in which the Constitution needs to be updated - separation of church and state, citizenship requirements, direct election of senators, gun rights, and the list goes on. In fact, here is a terrific radio show examining just that issue:
The Diane Rehm Show

But let's focus on Article One, Section Eight. If you go to 39:30 in the above-linked episode, there is a very interesting discussion about why Congress hasn't formally declared war for more than 60 years, in spite of the fact that we have had numerous military engagements.

In Deep Thinking about our Constitution, let's get back to the South Bay for a breakfast about how we "declare" war and the ramifications of it. Is it time to amend the Constitution with regard to waging war? Has the government and/or public enshrined a de facto constitutional revision? Do you agree with it?

It's the day after we change clocks, so you'll have an extra hour to sleep, and maybe we'll even touch on the election results. Come join us!
