People come to Deep Dance Light Spirit unsure of what to expect. "Do I need to know how to dance? Is it just a playlist of music that each person dances to? What kind of dancing, what kind of music?"
The answers are: No, you don't need to know how to dance at all. You don't even need to be mobile for that matter. A member came who couldn't dance and she sat and swayed and played the drum. And the group included her and made her feel valued and loved and accepted and completely part of the experience. This all happened spontaneously, because deep down in our souls joy and love are only waiting for permission to express themselves.
The music I choose is deeply evocative and pulled from all musical genres -- deep drum beats, lilting melodies, and haunting strains that encourage opening up to what arises in the moment.
The space is safe and sacred and most people find initial anxiety melting away within minutes of the dance starting.
We all intuitively understand that music has the power to move us. If we give them permission, emotions become energy in motion. When we open up to what is present in the moment, we see that our feelings want us to dance them. And if we dance them, old wounds heal, knots loosen, we shake off heaviness, despair lifts, sadness flows away and we begin to feel our joy rise right from our tippy toes to our fingers and all the way up through the tops of our heads. We feel exhilarated, happy, clear, purposeful and finally at peace.
Through skillful facilitation and careful selection of music we will undertake a transformative journey into our deep selves. We will do this together for the human condition is not one of disembodied spirit wandering the earth alone.
We honor the need for connection because it is through connection that we learn about the world, other people, and ultimately ourselves. We will dance in a large group, alone, in small groups and one on one. You will dance in safety and in sacred space. No previous dancing experience is necessary--everyone can dance their life.
In Deep Dance Light Spirit you can expect a large dose of fun as well as a physical, emotional and spiritual work(ing)-out.
