Grassroots Activist School on Saturday, July 31, by Kirk Shelley -- Senior Consultant (National Staff), Campaign for Liberty.

If you are serious about effecting political change, you must attend this intensive, one day training program. This program is part of the training that C4L members have been receiving at Regional Conferences held around the country. But we get to have it right here in our own state!

In this training program, you will learn the following:
• What does and does not motivate politicians to fear and respect you
• How mass movements fail, and why
• Access-based lobbying versus confrontational lobbying
• Putting power behind your words on Election Day
• How to choose battles that will grow your organization
• How to pass and defeat legislation
• How to target legislators who vote against you, and which to go after first
• How to grow your organization and develop your data resources
• How to raise the money you need to be effective

Fellow Member of Campaign for Liberty in Utah,

The day is almost here--a grassroots political activist training school right here in Utah!

Campaign for Liberty Senior Consultant Kirk Shelley will teach this one day, all day, intensive class on grassroots political activism on Saturday, July 31. It will begin at 9 AM and end at 5 PM. You do not want to miss this opportunity! This will be one of the biggest state-wide Campaign for Liberty events in Utah this year.

Click here to purchase a ticket to attend this class.

Our venue will be a classroom setting on the second floor of the Miller Professional Development Center (MPDC) at the Salt Lake Community College, located at 9750 S 300 W in Sandy, Utah.

This is the course that was presented in Minnesota at the Rally for the Republic in September 2008 and has been taught at C4L Regional Conferences held around the country from time to time since then (Seattle in May of 2009 and Las Vegas in July of 2009 were the closest ones to Utahns). I first attended a course like this in the early 90s in connection with my interest in preserving the rights of gun ownership (and getting legislators who stood up for gun ownership).

It is a great course! Come learn how to change the political landscape right here in Utah!

Here is the link again to purchase a ticket to attend this class.

This isn’t a seminar on ideas or theories – this school is about how to create change. This not a class on how to schmooze, but what you need to do to be respected and feared by the political class. If you are frustrated by politicians who say one thing at the Tea Party Rally, but break their promise at the Capitol, then you need to be at this school.

Guess what: the politicians see you coming. They know how to deal with people like you. They don't want to give in to people like us. They know how to confuse you, discourage you, make you waste your time, make you go away, and if all else fails, buy you off.

Effective political mobilization is not taught at major universities. It is not taught at think tanks; it is not taught at mass demonstrations, and it is rarely even taught by grassroots organizations, who for the most part only expect their members to send letters to legislators and send them money.

It is not taught because the political class doesn't want you to know it.

Again, click here to purchase a ticket to attend this class.

Decide now to attend this school and learn what most politicians don't want you to know.

If you aren't sure if this will be worth your while, contact one or a few C4L members who have attended other C4L trainings out of state. Those who have attended other trainings have said, so far, that the cost was well worth the training. Kirk Shelley has conducted many trainings and is a very engaging speaker. If ANY of the topics above are of interest to you, then PLAN TO ATTEND! -- roobah

Just what political activists in Utah need. A great showing and plenty of networking going on during breaks, lunch, and after the event. Thanks for organizing this, Lowell.

It was great. We really need to come together and network to get good people in office.

Excellent presentation. This was the most informative training of its kind I've attended in 22 years of living in Utah. Kirk Shelley of the Campaign for Liberty did a fantastic job.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
