Re: [atheists-662] The Right To Die With Dignity

Hi, Dave. This is, in essence, a grass roots effort only in its preliminary stages. As of yet, it's not sanctioned by DAH's board of directors. But the right to die with dignity is an affirmation of humanism as described by the Council for Secular Humanism which DAH is affiliated with. I can't proceed with this until more people agree to become a part of the effort. Of course if I can get some facetime with Keeley, more people may join in. I don't know what's happening in PA.. I suggest visiting the website of "Compassionate Choices". They may be able to provide more info. for you. Dave

Dave,

I don't live in Delaware. Anything similar happening in PA?

Potential progress is being made in trying to get the issue on the General Assembly's radar. My state representative, Helene Keeley, is holding a fundraiser in support of ovarian cancer research this Friday at Catherine Rooney's in Wilmington. She is the same representative who told me, last year, the issue didn't have traction. I hope to corner her by personally asking if she will sponsor/support a bill recognizing the issue before the General Assembly. If I succeed, will more DAH members lend their support by contacting their legislators on the issue? Dave
