Alan, I'd love to participate in the event but Esther lost her job and few weeks ago and as of yet has not received an unemployment check. I would feel guilty enjoying myself in the company of you, Margaret and others while she was home alone so I must beg off participating. Dave

There must be one or two out there who would like to help on Saturday, September 7th.  The task is no longer than two hours and you get a chance to eat lunch with Margaret Downey.

Please let me know if you want to help and we will work out the details

Here is a chance for a walk with a purpose!  We  need a few volunteers to participate in the Bartram Ave Cleanup on September 7th, the weekend before the Pa Atheist/Humanist conference.  There will be a Dutch-Treat lunch at Ruby Tuesday's afterwards.
The 2013 Pennsylvania State Atheist/Humanist Conference is fast approaching.
We want to make a good impression on all who attend and travel from the airport to the hotel via Bartram Avenue.  There is a  ¾-mile stretch that has its share of litter and debris – an embarrassment to the state conference hosts.
Margaret Downey and Al Palmer are coordinating a Bartram Avenue clean up day and are asking for volunteers to gather on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 10 AM. All volunteers will meet at the Ruby Tuesday parking lot and driven to the starting point. The address and phone for Ruby Tuesday are:
8680 Bartram Avenue
Philadelphia, PA 19153
Phone: (215)[masked]
“Volunteer Extraordinaire” Tom Melchiorre will be driving his truck behind the clean up crew using his hazard lights to alert on-coming traffic. He will also dispose of the collected trash.
Bags, plastic gloves and pole stickers will be provided. Volunteers are asked to wear bright clothing in case we run out of fluorescent vests.
The group will likely enjoy a Dutch-Treat luncheon at Ruby Tuesday after the street clean up.
Please volunteer by responding to this email or calling the coordinators listed below.
