3228 1st Ave S, Seattle, WA (map)
(between Hanford St & Horton St)
Hello everyone. I am looking for a group that is no more then 50 miles from my home town. Eatonville. We are willing to drive 1 to 1 1/2 hour away. Does anyone know of a group somewhere by us? Thank you for your time.Jeanna Green
Jeanna - this was 3 years ago :) 2010
It would still be nice to get together ;)
So. I left the house with my son to have blood drawn at 4:15pm (the blood draw appt) and am just now making it home..Bummed I had to miss this event.
So. I disappeared on everyone..SORRY! I had a child who has been ill..The problem I am running into in finding a location is time. Since the meetup isn't scheduled to start until 8pm..
Here is a place which I belive would work well..Starbucks on 1st and Walker in Seattle. One block from a public transportation stop. Its near Safeco field & 3 blocks north of Starbucks corporate headquarters. There is parking and most of it is free while at the same time traffic isn't as bad as downtown.
Here is a 2nd option Sodo Deli...3228 First Ave SSeattle, WA 98134... http://www.thestranger.com/...
The Sodo Deli closes at 4 pm. And the Starbucks -- if its the one at 102 1st Avenue South, that one closes at 7:30 pm. So neither would work.
When I called the Sodo Deli on the phone today they told me they were open until 9pm or 10pm and the Starbucks is open late as well. I called both locations.
Hi, I'm guessing this event isn't gonna happen now. Any last minute input or attempts to revive it?
I don't have private transport. Lynnwood won't work for me, but I DO encourage that the group with or without me, gets together. We should at least have a first start. They're ready to go. I see no reason, if you can make it that far, to not go. :-) Have at it.
I've heard of other writers groups who have met at a place inthr lobby of the Alexis hotel downtown on 1st avenue. There are apparently two places called the Library Bistro and Bookstore Bar.TTYe Bookstore Bar is, from what I hear, small and cozy, with lots of newspapers and books and magazines, and the finest selection of single malt scotches in the city. How about meeting at the Bookstore Bar?
Hi everyone! DMS staff editor Joe here. I'm based in our Bellevue offices, and would love to come meet all of you. But two days to go, and we're still lacking a venue!
Based on the chatter, it seems Seattle is the best bet. Trying to accommodate everyone will be pretty tough, and in town is about as central as we can get. Don't worry, I'll be braving the traffic/sparse parking, as well, but I think it's well, well worth it. Let's pick a spot today! Hope to meet you all soon!
And of course the weather is not going to be friendly at all for the next several days. As I said, I'm up for Seattle. I have no place in mind, and would even stomach the transient aromas of the downtown public library if I absolutely had to. Let's just get this thing going?
I'm curious to see what creative force we have got going on here.
What if we have this meetup in a more central location..such as Tukwila? It will allow people from Seattle to travel a bit, Bellevue, Kent, and the South Sound..that way we have one larger meetup instead of a bunch of onesie and twosie meetings?
I'm partial to Seattle.I commute using public transport.Taking a trip beyond the metropolitan area is not a viable option, I'm afraid.
Hoping we can pick a place today to qualify for the party pack... a coffeeshop or similar outside of downtown works best for me.
Hey guys! This is Kaitlyn, Community Manager for Demand Media Studios. Just want to remind you guys to set a location! We want to mail 'party packs' to all our Meetups who have 10+ RSVPs and a set location by December 9th. Any questions- just ask!
Wouldn't a coffee house be cozier? Also, I don't think the Public Library will be open at 8:00 pm.
I think someplace, cozy, warm, with some food and drink (not necessarily alcoholic) would serve for a better and more creative feel for our first meeting.
I'm definitely interested.I'm downtown after work. Any place down there would work for me.
Hi Damon, downtown after work sounds good to me as well
