This month's DemoDays will take place again at Pivotal Labs! We had such a great time last month that we asked if we could come back, and Pivotal was generous us to let us crazy folks back!

This month's theme: SOUND

In a bit of an experiment, we're going to try running themes for each DemoDay. Students are especially encouraged to demo their previous work that relates to the DemoDay's theme (although all demos are welcome!).

This month's theme is sound - music, noise, and everything in between. So bring your procedural sound generators, your experiments, your half-finished white noise generator! Anything relating to stuff that goes in your ears (HEY!) is germane.

NOTE: Non-sound-demos are certainly still welcome!

This month's speakers: R. Luke Dubois + Amit Pitaru

R. Luke Dubois - composer, performer, conceptual artist, programmer and record producer. Does that sound amazing? Because I got it off his Wikipedia page (legit!).

He's well known for his work with using algorithms to generate sound. Stochastic music, data mining, time-lapse phonography, L-systems, formal grammars - Luke does it all. His work has been featured at the Sundance Film Festival and the 2008 Democratic National Convention. He's also presented previously at Google, O'Reilly's Web 2.0 Expo, and the Guggenheim Museum.

Amit Pitaru, our other speaker, is a coder and classically trained musician whose projects have ranged far and wide, including an incredible 3d synthesizer (yes, you read that right: http://sws.cc/)

If past DemoDays speakers are any indication, you can expect these guys to be giving a TED Talk soon (by the way, you can check out Jer Thorp's (November DD presenter) TED talk here: http://www.ted.com/talks/jer_thorp_make_data_more_human.html)

So come - it's going to be awesome!

Look for all of the awesome things from last month's DemoDays to return - free pizza, a livestream, and ping pong will all make a return! Woot! Bring your friends! DemoDays is the greatest party for geek college students in NYC!

An amazing event. People showing other people what they can do is a very old idea. That old idea is nothing without an organizer who is not tempted to use every opportunity to blow his own horn. Nate Bercopec, his unobtrusive, intelligent style is the secret behind DemoDays success.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
