Welcome, Freedom Democrats!

This is a new Meetup group, affiliated with the national Democratic Freedom Caucus (DFC), a progressive, pro-freedom caucus in the Democratic Party. The DFC takes an innovative approach, beyond "left and right".

That includes advocating progressive, freedom-oriented policies which emphasize: upholding civil liberties; promoting the public interest rather than favoritism to special interests, such as corporate subsidies (corporate welfare), including media companies, and government favoritism that creates monopolies; cutting wasteful government spending; and offering alternatives to unresponsive bureaucracies, by building-in incentives for improving the quality and cost-efficiency of public services.

We support the Bill of Rights, which describes what is meant by individual liberty and constitutional limits on government. The Democratic Party was originally founded upon principles of individual liberty, constitutional democracy, and social responsibility.

Our aim is to help the Democratic Party be more consistent about supporting freedom, in order to have more practical policies, that are beyond "left and right", for such issues as: job creation; healthcare; education; environment; housing; poverty; freedom and social justice; better economic policies; energy; a level playing field for small businesses; consumer protection; foreign policy; and other issues.
