This is the Denver Amp Builders first meeting and I started this group to provide a place where builders and curious musicians can get together to listen to each other’s creations, help troubleshoot, exchange ideas and parts, jam a little bit and maybe if all goes well, host a table at next year’s Vintage Voltage Expo.
Tube amp building is an expensive hobby, it requires investing time and money into something that can be both thrilling and frustrating. You can look on youtube for hours trying to determine if you should clone a Bassman, construct a JMP800 or start out on a little Champ. You can’t know for sure what you’re getting until your standing in front of the speaker with your own instrument and letting it rip. One of the goals for this meetup is to mitigate that frustration and take some of the guess work out of building or buying a tube amp.
