At the meeting I volunteered to host the Alternate Party. Given that it is the month of icy weather I think I shall bake something for the party. Beyond that I have yet to make plans. DASFA Alternate Parties are so named because they were started as an alternate to the "Dead Dog Party" that occurs after the monthly meeting. In general a DASFA party is a BYO (Bring Your Own) type event with people bringing a drink or food item that they want to have and share, but members are not required to bring anything. Fans will talk of the things that we find interesting, be that science articles that were recently read, talking about books, TV shows, etc.

My RSVP will actually be a tentative yes. Unfortunately someone came to work with the flu earlier, and it got most of us. Hopefully, I'll be better by Saturday.

Well at least you are not swamped with your country's 500th anniversary to plan, your wedding to arrange, your wife to murder, and Guilder to frame for it. But get some rest anyway, after all if you haven't got your health you haven't got anything.

So far people who have mentioned a food item they will be bringing include cupcakes and a roast chicken, so there will indeed be food. I have quite a bit of real (hard) cider and if that is not to a guest's liking I can also serve out mass quantities of tea.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
