The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Lets get together and see a movie.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty won the poll this week.  The movie should start at 3:50 p.m.  I will be at the cinema 15 to 20 minutes before the start of the movie next to the parking validation machine in the Lobby with a Denver Cinema Club sign.

I look forward to meeting everyone.

After the movie, we will get together at a local restaurant or bar for discussion.  Please let me know in your RSVP or in the comments if you plan on joining in discussion after the movie.

I’m a long-time fan of the Thurber short story, which is only 3-1/2 pages if you want to read it*. I recently watched both the 1947 version with Danny Kaye and the new Ben Stiller remake. The Kaye version follows the story more closely, but both have different endings. I enjoyed the remake and felt good at the end. Sean Penn was great in his small part. Kristin Wiig is a brilliant and favorite comic actress, but I was not as taken with this straight acting performance; at every moment I expected her to break into her “just kidding” routine. SPOILER ALERT: I loved the ending in which Walter’s greatness was there all along, revealed by the respect his own hero (Sean) had for him. And that’s a good thing, because the trip to Iceland was over-the-top-unbelievable as a real-life experience of Walter finding his courage. *http://teachersites.schoolworld.com/webpages/JStafford1/files/the%20secret%20life%20of%20walter%20mitty.pdf

I thought Wolf of Wall Street wasn't even worth the $8 matinee price but the rest of them I would see. Mandela I would see a second time; it was inspirational. Hustle was fun and great performances. Mitty would be my first choice of the ones you mentioned. I'm also interested in Philomena, although I know that might not be playing downtown.

...Thought Wolf of Wallstreet was a 3-hour assault and insult (506 F-words + hundreds of other impolite comments); along with an endless parade of unmentionable acts of depravity just isn't FUN - and I ain't no prude! Really liked Hustle - worth my time...

Sounds great. I'm really behind on my movie watching, I'm up for any of these. American Hustle, especially, has been highly recommended...

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
