The photography was spectacular. Unfortunately, the documentary itself was not great. The film can't decide if it is a story about James Balog or if it's about climate change. The story about Balog filming is not compelling and takes away from the mystery and awe of the glaciers. Also, the documentary does a poor job of balancing emotional appeal with scientific facts and there is not one expert on climate science interviewed. This film will not convince skeptics. It starts under the assumption that climate change is occurring and does little to back that up. One photographer is not going to convince the masses with nothing but shots of calving glaciers. While influential and inspiring, this could have been much better.

Check with the theater....I think it is playing another week.
This is a must see film about the climate change crisis. Breathtaking filming documenting the proof that our planet is in major and rapid geologic change all because of carbon emissions.

Sophie, We usually meet 15 minutes before the start of the film in the lobby and sit together. Will you be meeting us at that time? Let us know how we can find you. I bought my ticket already since it is Thanksgiving weekend and the directors will be there. I recommend everyone else to do the same just in case this is a sell-out.

The following announcement came down from Landmark today concerning Chasing Ice. Thought I'd pass it on:

OPENING FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 23: On Friday, November 23 the Chez Artiste Theatre opens an exclusive one week engagement of CHASING ICE, a new documentary in which acclaimed National Geographic photographer James Balog deploys revolutionary time-lapse cameras to capture a multi-year record of the world's changing glaciers. His hauntingly beautiful videos compress years into seconds and capture ancient mountains of ice in motion as they disappear at a breathtaking rate. CHASING ICE producers Paula DuPré Pesmen and Jerry Aronson will appear in person at the Chez Artiste Theatre on Friday, November 23 for a Q&A after the 7:00pm show and to introduce the 9:15pm show. On Saturday, November 24, Dr. Tad Pfeffer, a scientist featured in the film, will join the producers for a Q&A after the 7:00pm show and to introduce the 9:15pm show. The emotionally riveting documentary
