Happy Hour@El Museo de las Americas

  • Museo de las Americas

  • It's time again for the Spanish Happy Hour at Museo de Las Americas.

Every 3rd Friday of the month the Museo opens its doors for the Happy Hour. Spend your evening immersed in language and culture at the Museo de las Americas. Meet new people with shared interests while you perfect your accent, add vocabulary and share ideas and opinions! (Note that while the DFSN attends this event, it's open to the public and there will be non-DFSN folks involved). Beverages and snacks are provided.

The cost is $3 for Museo members and $5 for regular DFSN members. The event runs from 5pm-8pm.

OK, I'm working nearby today anyway, so I'm planning on going over at 5, and putting a sign on the door to the Museo saying to meet up at Tacos de Mexico, and see who shows up - we can change the location, and the sign, if we get a quorum of people who want to go elsewhere. Hasta la vista!

Interstate provided food for the Happy Hour for most of the last year - and they're good. I think they might be on the pricey side, however. It seems to me that we need a place that offers inexpensive options, like bowls of chips to share, so that people can hang out without having to spend more than they would have at the Museo ($5), and the Mexican places I suggested fit that criteria. Any alternate location also needs to have plenty of space for us, from say 5-7 on a Friday.

Hi. Just found another place on Internet. Sounds great. They have food and happy hour. Prices good. Over 50 types of whiskey. Apparently, their specialty. Also, beer, etc. Kitchen & Bar interstate at 10th and Santa Fe. This one gets my vote. :)

I suggest the alternate meetup location be nearby, so that anyone who shows up not knowing and sees the sign on the door of the Museo (which we'll need to put up) can just walk over. I know I've seen mixed reviews of the food at El Noa Noa, some good and some not; my suggestion if others don't like that choice, is to try Tacos de Mexico just next door to the South, which is a buck or two cheaper per entree and well-reviewed on sites I saw; I also checked it out recently, as thought it was good.

    Bicycle cafe also sounds good.

I don't care for food at El Noa Noa. Never been but Rackhouse Pub is at 208 S Kalamath and iSushi is just north of Co democratic party headquarters on Santa Fe

    I think that's a good idea

Based on times in the past when we've only discovered that the Museo was closed when people showed up at the door on Friday evening, I think we should have a designated alternate location nearby - hence my suggestion of El Noa Noa. I suspect some people may still show up for Happy Hour, and so I think we should meet up within walking distance, and put a sign on the Museo's door as to where we are - is anyone else up for that?

Is anyone interested in doing this at an alternate location instead? I know the owners of Bicycle Cafe on 17th have always been very open to having Spanish meetups at their space and have a great selection of CO beers, or El Noa Noa as mentioned above?

The Museo will be closed until the 21st for the installation! Thank you for checking.

I have never been to a meet up and just joined the group....Is this happy hour going to be at the Museo?
I look forward to meeting everyone.

Good catch! Hopefully someone will verify that - the last time the Museo was closed we didn't know in advance, and after that I suggested we have a restaurant as a back-up location. I checked out the options, and would suggest El Noa Noa - though El Taco de Mexico is a possibility during warm weather as there's not good seating inside, I'm not sure if they serve drinks.

The website says the museo closed until June 21 for installation ... is this correct?
