Tubing in Clear Creek Canyon in Golden

Many of you said you wanted to go tubing, so here we go. We will meet on the river side of the Golden History Museum near the porch with the umbrellas. Bring your own tube, sunscreen, watershoes (if you'd like), water. Have in mind that water may be cold, so dress accordingly.  You can buy tubes starting at $10-15 at Walmart or other sporting goods stores, such as Golden River Sports or  Vital Outdoors in Golden. You can also rent tubes from Whitewater Tube Co in Boulder. If you know of another palce to buy/rent tubes, please feel free to share with the group.

If you do not wish to go tubing, there will be a group to hike the trail along the river.

We will grab lunch at Golden Farmers' market or i will check a places in Golden as well and will update the details with the lunch information.

Even though I spent my only ride mostly underwater, I had fun and I'm glad I did it.

I didn't meet anyone because I came late BUT I did enjoy walking the trail and seeing the wild ride. I hadn't planned on tubing but wading. Maybe when the water is down a bit wading will be more possible. A beautiful town !

It was fun to watch everyone "ride the river" as we walked along the pathway, staying warm and dry!

Really fun! I would definitely go again soon. Perfect summer time activity...and now I sort of know what I am doing. Thanks so much for organizing it.

I called a half-dozen local Wal-Marts, and they didn't have any river tubes available in the store -- only online. So next time!

I have a silly question. Is there a place near where we are meeting that I can put air in the tube? I have a small car and I wouldn't be able to put an inflated innertube in it. Thanks.

I tubed it Saturday the 6th and had a great time. You can walk about 1/2 to 3/4 mile up from Washington St. to the end of the concrete trail and float some natural river before the kayak park. (I think you can even go farther upstream too) The kayak park has some nice drops to get the adrenaline going and is the funnest part, maybe 1/4 mile long going up from Washington St. The water is chilly but not numbing even when in the water, definitely nicer when the sun is out. After going under Washington St. there is a very easy place to get out that is signed to exit the river. If you go down that far there isn't a path to walk back up for the first block or so. (on a street, crossing a street or 2) Getting out before the bridge after the last drop is good but you need to get to shore quickly after the drop as the water is still relatively high. If you miss it, just continue down to the easy and final exit spot. Keep your butt up when in any shallow areas!

Hi Ken, how do we get back to the starting point after tubing up or down the river? How many miles are we talking about? If we decide to hike, is it fairly level or is there elevation involved? Sorry to ask all these questions, but, hubby has bad knees and we need to know if he will be able to handle this trip before we say yes.

There is a kayak park in Golden with man made rapids for kayaks and tubes. You go down the rapids and then get out, walk above them and do it again, lots of fun. You can't float very far down the creek from golden as you run into private property (Coors).

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
