Let's see the documentary "Room 237"

Showtime is 7:20 p.m.

I'll be in the lobby area for a drink and some conversation at 6:00.

I'll be at a table with an Evil Dead thermos on it. Stop by and say hello before the movie.

Room 237

USA, 2012, 104 Minute Running Time
Genre/Subject: Documentary

Opens Friday, April 12th in limited theaters

Digital presentation - After the box office failure of Barry Lyndon, Stanley Kubrick decided to embark on a project that might have more commercial appeal. The Shining, Stephen King’s biggest critical and commercial success yet, seemed like a perfect vehicle. After an arduous production, Kubrick’s film received a wide release in the summer of 1980; the reviews were mixed, but the box office, after a slow start, eventually picked up. End of story? Hardly. In the 30 years since the film’s release, a considerable cult of Shining devotees has emerged, fans who claim to have decoded the film’s secret messages addressing everything from the genocide of Native Americans to a range of government conspiracies. Rodney Ascher’s wry and provocative Room 237 fuses fact and fiction through interviews with cultists and scholars, creating a kaleidoscopic deconstruction of Kubrick’s still-controversial classic.

The Impossible Window... the minotaur... the Hitler mustache... faking the moon landing... not to mention sex patterns in the carpeting in the moon room...yep. All of the questions I never knew I needed to know have now been answered. And I fear I'll never be able to see Barry Nelson shaking Jack Nicholson's hand ever again without seeing eroticised paper trays.

I don't know, but if you're out of work and you think someone's following you, it's time to start drawing maps of a movie set!

Really hate to bail out so late, but I picked up a writing project that needs a super-quick turnaround, so I need to let this one pass. (I just watched The Shining on the big screen last night, too.) :(
