This game is full! Please do not RSVP as I can't accept any more players.
The year is 1879. The Confederacy recently won its bid for independence and the former area of the United States has broken into multiple, independent nations. Battle fields from the Civil War are said to be haunted, with claims of the dead rising back up and attacking the living soldiers. Huge deposits of a miracle fuel called Ghost Rock, which burns hotter and more efficiently than coal and is worth more than gold, have been discovered in California. Ghost Rock has fueled technological progress and given rise to a group of people called "new scientists." Both the Union and the Confederacy need Ghost Rock, and have offered a large sum of money to whichever rail company can build a line to California first. The Rail Barons fight each other as they desperately try and lay track faster than the others can destroy it.
California, however, was recently hit by a massive earthquake that shattered the landmass. Large, dangerous canals run into the land and are fought over by competing gangs. The former state is under a constant state of famine, with food spoiling faster there than anywhere else in the nation. The only place that seems to have enough food is the city of Lost Angels, controlled by the Reverend Grimme and his followers. Regardless, thousands of people move westward, in hopes of striking their fortune and fleeing the horrors left over from the Civil War.
You will be playing a group of people who, for whatever their reasons, are heading to California.
This is new Deadlands campaign I'm starting up and I need 4-5 mature players for it. I'm looking to meet on Thursday to explain more about the setting and create the characters for the upcoming adventure. If this is something you are interested in, please contact me before you RSVP so I know who you are. (If I don't know you already)
No previous experience with Savage Worlds or RPGs required! I'm hoping for a solid mix of combat and RP in this campaign.
Here is a quick list of possible character archetypes. Savage Worlds is really flexible and you can pretty much make any character you can think of. There are also additional archetypes not listed here.
Huckster - Magic users who gamble with demons for their powers.
Mad scientist- Techno-magic users who build devices at a cost of their sanity
Agent - Gunslinger with government connections the Union
Texas Ranger - Gunslinger with government connections to the Confederacy
Blessed - Magic user who gains their powers through religious obedience
Shaman - Native Americans who gain their abilities through connections to the Old Gods.
Voodooist - Gains abilities through deals with the friendly spirits, the Loa.
Monk - Uses martial arts to overpower opponents
Ship captain - More useful than it sounds as California has a lot of water ways.
Basically any other Gunslinger you can imagine. This is set in the west, after all.
This PDF is the player hand out for the campaign. It gives a lot more background information: http://www.peginc.com/freebies/DL_Reloaded/TheFloodPG.pdf
Date, time, and location are still TBD. If you want to join, but can't make this time, let me know! I'm looking to have alternating Thursdays at Enchanted Grounds.
