Shadowrun 4th or 5th Edition

Will be running a 4th or 5th edition game.  Currently the first meetup will be character building and likely the food fight at the local stuffer shack depending on time.

If you guys have played before great.  If not please contact me and I can set you up with some materials to make sure we get your characters settled during the 1st Meetup.

Also please message me about the type of character, your experience level with Shadowrun, and if you have 4th or 5th edition books.

Thanks.

I had lots of fun. I felt like Chris did a nice job handling the responsibility of so many players.

The only Enchanted Grounds I could find with Google maps is at 8800 S Colorado Blvd., Highlands Ranch, not Denver! If that's the one you mean, please fix the address. Thanks, Craig

Good catch craig. I relied on the site's auto-fill for a location.

I've got both SR4 & SR5 books, but am only interested in playing SR5. I won't be available to play until after April due to other commitments. I've played a brief SR4 campaign and GM'ed a very brief SR4 campaign, which I had to abandon due to my time constraints and lack of comfort with the system. I am interested in SR because of its rich roleplaying system and will send pdf's of two characters generated with Hero Labs--a mystic adept and a fighter. Please tell me how to get the pdf's to you.

Chris I sent you a message, only played Shadowrun once at dragon con last year, it was 5th edition, I was thinking of playing a face as they are a low maintenance character but would love to play a decker if we need one

Hey all just looking to see who is attending, since it is not clear based on some of the messages I have received. If you could also include your Shadowrun Experience level and if you have a 4th or 5th edition book. That would be great.

Please message me or reply to this post.

      Hi Lon

    • Chris

This will be a monthly game so if you can make february with a 4th ed character that will be the 1st run. This session will be character building and the food fight.

      January 8, 2014

  • Chris

So I think for right now we are going to do 4th, since I am slammed at work and want to get the game up and running without learning all of the new mechanics. If game goes well we can convert over to 5th after the first module if everyone is comfortable. Otherwise if people want to play 5th I need to know now so I can start reading the mechanics in depth.

I don't care which edition we play, but I do not want to switch between them. Archetypes such as Hacker/Decker and Technomancer don't have anything in common between editions. Street Samurai, Adept and Rigger look similar but the details change everything. Mages and Faces don't change much.

      January 4, 2014

    • Chris

Well We'll see how it goes, I would like to try out 5th at some point but for the time being 4th it is. Hacking is streamlined and the conversion is rough for them, but they went back to 3rd and 2nd ed style play with those archetypes. Everything else is similar to 4th Ed they just cleaned up skills and changed how damage and armor work. Honestly in the one play test I did, I liked 5th it was more balanced for combat. But I am slammed at work till march so I will stick with 4th until at least then that should give us 3 to 4 sessions. It will also give you guys a good feeling if you like me as a GM and if we fit as a gaming group.

What kind of Shadowrun game will this be? Will we be a bunch of well-meaning anarchists out to stick it to the man? Cold, hardened professionals who are not that different from the corporations they run against? A bunch of street rats, hoping to make it big? The big guys, whom everyone in the shadows looks up to?

    January 2, 2014

    • Chris

For right now you will be low level runners trying to build a rep to get some higher paying jobs. The game will take place in the Seattle Metroplex. If you guys take negative qualities I expect you to have back stories and reasons for them. Nothing super intricate, but if you take burnout or SINner there better be a reason for it.

      January 2, 2014

  • Chris

I would say 4th unless everyone already has a 5th ed book. They are expensive at the moment and I already have all of the 4th books to GM with. Otherwise if it is everyone's first time playing we can start with 5th. Does everyone know what kind of characters they want to make?

    • E.L. W.

I have a gunslinger adept I have ready made it needs a little tweaking.

      January 2, 2014

    • Chris

I like the idea of the Street Sam and the gunslinger. Not too keen on the technomancer seems like a concept character you won't have fun with. Plus Technomancers are A) hard to find even in 2074, and B) Severally reclusive especially in 5th Ed.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
