D&D 3.5 Home Brew Game

SEE NOTE AT BOTTOM

Character creation
There will be 6 players max created by D&D 3.5 core book rules. Open classes are core book only. Stats will not be rolled. Starting at 1st level with 80 stat points. Stat points can be assigned as desired within Min/Max rules (min stat 8, max stat 18/ +- race modification). Alignments can be ANY providing players can get along. NO PC in-fighting PLEASE, players will be removed if they blatantly ignore this rule. Please send me a digital copy of your character concept and history for final approval. You should also acquire an image of your character and a lengthy (a page or two, not a novel please) character history. You will receive a special bonus feat for free based on your history, so put thought into it. I will choose your feat.
GM info
Your GM is a woman! I have been gaming and running for a few years. Looking forward to getting this game started. I am big into creative problem solving and will encourage roleplaying over dice rolling. If your mouth gets you into something, your mouth (with some help from your rolling) will have to get you out of it. :) I will use core book rules, with some personal liberty, as GM's are prone to do. Remember, I am GOD (Games Operational Designer).
History
The game world will be created by me. No modules for you - It's all in my head, muahahaha! You all have been convicted of a high end crime, whether you are guilty of the crime or not. Something serious, but nothing that you would be hung outright for, like treason. Please include this in your history. Please include how long you have been in jail before you were given this opportunity. You have all been contracted to work for the kingdom, as an alternative to jail time or being hung. The kingdom is a LN kingdom run by a LN King. The kingdom is in rugged terrain with a mix of hills, heavy forest, and mountains. There is still a lot of undeveloped terrain in the region. The borders of this kingdom are high rocky mountains on the south side, a warring mercenary kingdom to the north east, and a large forested elven kingdom on the north west. There is a large river (Mississippi sized) separating the two other kingdoms from yours. The atmosphere of the kingdom is hard and rugged. Kingdom major imports include food and finished goods. Kingdom major exports are wood, stone, metals, and other raw materials.
We have already had our first three games. Looking forward to our Fourth.

Note: If you like to create min max characters, do not want to take the time to write a good history, or do not game well with others, please find another game.

I had a very good time, and look forward to my next chance to be with the group. I'm only sorry that I can't make the next meeting. Thanks for entertaining my questions and inexperience. That was fun!

Awesome combat! We barely survived, and the challenge level was probably just about right. I look forward to the next session.

I plan on typing and emailing my history to you as soon as I get back to CO. I wrote down a skeleton of my story and have been thinking of some supporting details while on this holiday trip. I would have already sent it, but I accidentally left my notebook with history notes on my desk at home. Anxious to meet the group and do some role playing.

For stat generation purposes, are we using the scaled cost system (such as 3.5 ed DM's Guide page 169) or is it a 1-for-1 purchase (Str 14 would cost 14 points while Str 18 would cost 18). I'm assuming the latter. I'm not a rules lawyer, by the way. Just had to dig out my book to figure out how this stuff all works again.

not exactly book rules, but more fair. Everything else is by the book creation. Keep in mind that we are fourth level now. Create a base 4th level character.

I've got a background all written up. It's a bit of a short story (under 3 pages) so it's too large for the meetup e-mail interface to accommodate. I've submitted an e-mail via Meetup to you with my home e-mail. Can you confirm that you've received it please?

  • Dane P.

Did you get my e-mail regarding a background starting point? I'm not the most experienced meetup user.

Hey guys, this will be my first D&D game since 2005 and I didn't play a lot then. I've been looking for a custom game with character and cooperation, and I'm very excited to get an opportunity to play again. I'm thinking on my character right now, and I want to go as simple as possible on both the back story, and the class, because I don't know the game particularly well. Also, and this is an important point, I'm a very shy person in groups of new people, and I'm already intimidated to play a character. With that in mind, I'd like to be a simple fighter-class, and I'm aiming at a back story that will mesh with my introvertedness. I'd like to talk to the DM about the back story and what will fit with her world, my inexperience, and my quiet temperament. Will be in touch via Meetup e-mail.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
