This may be too last minute, but here goes. Out of sheer coincidence, James Bertini, who heads up the Seattle Ron Paul Meetup sent me the following message. Any takers for tomorrow? Just let everyone know and we might pull something together. I know up in Portland Oregon, there was an activist percussion band that played on pots and pans and a washboard.:
When I was a boy my father helped a state senator in NYS campaign every two years. He organized a group of kids who played instruments to form "Tarky's Little Brass Band", mostly by twisting the arms of his own children and a few others kids he knew. (We always got treated to McDonalds afterwards.)
We would go to shopping centers and play. Someone would hand out flyers to those who walked near. The bass drum had a sign that read, "Tarky's Little Brass Band."
Well, I am ready to play again. I play snare drum and other percussion, although only snare is needed for this. In addition we need a bass drum, and several brass instruments. If others want to join, that's fine, too. Obviously no high level of ability is required as we are not doing this to compete with the Marine Corp Band; rather, it is just a way to pump people up and make others take notice.
This new band could play at rallies and other events.
Let me know if you want me to do this and if so let's get the word out and attract other volunteers. I could organize the musicians if you help me get them and then direct us when and where to play.
If we film our first performance and you can network with other Ron Paul chapters by sending them a short clip and explaining how we operate, perhaps other such bands will form from Ron Paul chapters across the US.
