That's tough. I really enjoy Jim Butcher, Patricia Briggs, George R.R. Martin, Charles Stross, Kim Harrison, Charlaine Harris, Barb & JC Hendee... I could probably go on. In short, I like authors who create engaging worlds, use English well, and feature strong female characters.
Classic Lit: To Kill a Mockingbird (Harper Lee), The Count of Monte Cristo (Alexandre Dumas), Pop Lit: Harry Potter series (JK Rowling), The Rule of Four (Ian Caldwell/Dustin Thomason) Fantasy: The Dresden Files series (Jim Butcher), Mercy Thompson series (Patricia Briggs), One for the Morning Glory (John Barnes) Sci-fi: Halting State (Charles Stross) Nonfiction: Long Walk to Freedom (Nelson Mandela), Underground (Haruki Murakami)
Typically urban fantasy - I'm just starting to read more high fantasy and sci-fi. I have trouble with overly complicated names (I'm looking at you, JRR Tolkien) and I've been exposed to a lot of BAAAAD sci-fi in the past, so I read it on recommendation from people who know my tastes. =P
I'm an unabashed geek - I love computers, reading, the Intertubz, web design, tech, dogs, cats, beer, bicycling, hiking, gaming. I appreciate a good sense of geeky humor!
Everyone is very friendly, knowledgeable, and reads a wide variety of books. Plus, I don't think I've laughed that hard in a long time!
