  • The Denver Socrates Cafe Meetup Group

I tend to think about the subjects that please me. This group shows me that there are whole countries of thought I have not even visited. Not only that, but they invite me in; I am not a tourist, but an honored guest of the natives.

  •  You are a citizen of a great and powerful nation. Are you not ashamed that you give so much time to the pursuit of money, reputation and honors, and care so little for truth, wisdom and the improvement of your soul?- Socrates, the Apology 29d.

  •  Utilizing a structured system of conversation while at the same time keeping the subject of discussion open allows for a very intellectually stimulating experience.

  •  Having not been to a Socrates Cafe before, and not really knowing what to expect, I appreciated the number of good topics nominated for discussion; the comments, the questions, the feedback, all were very thought-provoking. Come to the next meetup and you will enjoy yourself.

  •  The groups size though small is ideal for such discussions and the diversity of the group and age range supports fertile ground for new insights. I would recommend it to anyone who likes to hear views opposing to one's own and who wishes to meet people who are well read and enjoy dialogue and debate.

  •  Mixed feelings about the format. It's a good way for a larger group to be all-inclusive, but seems to stem the tide of ideas that could exist in a more free-floating or brainstorming format.
