SWAT Team Eats Humble Pie

This month, the SWeets And Treats (SWAT) Team heads over to Denver's historic Baker neighborhood (a Baker bakery!) not to eat cookies, cupcakes, or candies, but scrumptious pie. The Humble Pie Store has been getting rave reviews like "pie paradise," and "nothing short of dreamy." When I contacted them, they said they'd been wanting to offer some vegan selections, and our coming would give them a push in that direction. Baker Amber will offer us two vegan options, chocolate silk pie and fruit crostata, both gluten-free, and would like our feedback as she expands her vegan baking expertise. Also available to order are espresso, tea, juices, and sodas.

Humble Pie features an inviting shop with an old-fashioned feel. For more info, see Parking is on the street or, because we'll be going on a Saturday, we can park in the school lot across the street to the south. If it's a nice day you may want to explore this unique neighborhood a bit afterwards. See you there!

The SWAT Team goes on a mission to find yummy vegan sweets every 2nd Saturday of the month.

The snowstorm just beginning at the time of the meetup fortunately did not interfere at all with driving conditions to get there. Humble Pie's baker Amber served us strawberry tarts with "cream" in an almond/coconut crust, and a chocolate/peanut silk pie with an oat crust. Both delicious!! We enjoyed sitting with our sweets and tea while watching the snow falling outside. Since the storm kept some people away, we may revisit Humble Pie for a future meetup.

I will try to come but if the snow is really bad I have to stay home because my car has racing tires on it that don't like the snow and my husband will have our other car up in Loveland for the day. I hope to make it though!
