Food Day is a nationwide celebration and a movement for healthy, affordable, and sustainable food. Denver’s third annual Food Day is approaching! Denver Botanic Gardens will be hosting again, along with partners Denver Urban Gardens and Slow Food Denver. Denver Vegans will be tabling there with information to explain the many benefits of plant-based diets and--despite the FoodDay.org logo--to discourage the eating of eggs and meat, and the keeping of backyard chickens (except as pets).
This year’s national focus is on Food Education. In light of this theme, programming will include a family-friendly garden harvest and cooking demonstration, a panel discussion on “Edible Education”, a class on cooking healthy meals on a budget, and more. Thanks to sponsorship from Chipotle Mexican Grill, admission to the Denver Botanic Gardens and all Food Day programming is completely free. In addition to educational programming, Food Day includes a food sampling from local restaurants and an informational expo (that's where we come in).
We tabled there last year, and discovered it is an excellent opportunity to reach people already interested in healthy food. Come and check out the local food scene (which will probably include vegan samples), stop by our table to say hi, and enjoy the Gardens for free.
Can anyone take a shift at our table? If so, please contact Keith Akers or Kate Lawrence at[masked] or send us an e-mail.
