Meet and Greet - 1st meetup of Denver.rb

Come join us for the first meetup of Denver.rb! We'll be having drinks (both non-alcoholic/alcoholic) and food. We'd like this to be a get to know you session and a brainstorming session on what talks and format people would like to see over the coming months.

We'd like the next meetup to be in January and then we plan to have them each month following from there on out.

Pivotal, thoughtbot and gSchool will be providing the food and beverages.

Cheers and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Attendance was bigger than I (or the organizers, apparently!) expected... a welcoming group, good first event.

Darn. Same night as Boulder Agile. Where's my clone when i need him?

Yes, that was an oversight on our part. We are planning to put future meetups on a night that doesn't comflict with Boulder.rb nor Derailed. We'll finalize that at this Tuesday's meetup.

Denver already has a group with exact same interests aka Derailed. Why dilute the community and with what intents? From what I can see the organizers are well aware of Derailed existence which has been meeting in Denver for over 7 years. http://www.meetup.com/DeRailed. What is the real agenda behind this group and why not improve what's already there?

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts (more welcome). We're working this out in the interest of the whole community, and want to make sure everyone feels included, welcome and happy with the direction of the meetup. This is a tall order, but a noble one nonetheless. Please rest easy knowing that Denver.rb and related Denver groups have been considered to the best of our ability.

As of right now, we are moving forward with Denver.rb. Our goal is to provide the best Denver Ruby meetup, period. In time, prospectively the best Ruby meetup across the globe. Whether under the name, motif, legacy or elsewise of existing meetups, our goal is to spread knowledge of the Ruby domain. As a community, people are obviously a huge factor and I solely take on the responsibility of ensuring the direction is made in the interest of people.

Where we stand: results are still pending and we're discussing directions.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
