Preseason Denver Broncos vs Seattle Seahawks

Welcome back fellow Broncos fans, it's been a long time off since we've gathered in the place of old, and when I mean old, I mean 7 years old at Peen Quarters.  That's hard to believe it's been that long, but yet, here we are.  It's been quite a memorable offseason of course with the biggest aquisition of Welker and the unfortunate departure of Dumervil.  But we've all been around long enough to know change is inevitable but the ultimate goal still remains, Superbowl or bust.  In relation to this particular training camp, I just wanted to highlight several positions that can real impact the team.

Running Back  -  The depature of McGahee for better or worse highlights the inevitable youth movement Elway preaches when it comes to workhorse positions, he wants his Davis.  Four running backs are in the mix for 3 positions, Hillman, Ball (Montee), Moreno and CJ Anderson.  Anderson will be the wild card in this particular mix as if he plays as well as he did in game 1, Moreno is out.  The key for the #1 running back is their ability to block for Manning.  As we will be in way more 3 and 4 wide receiver sets instead of the 2 tight end sets from last season, blocking for Manning is of the upmost importance, and the ability to do that will win the #1 position

Safety - Often an underrated position, but no longer in this pass happy league.  Again, elway is in a youth movement with home grown talent.  Mike Adams played well enough last year, but the new regime demands perfection.   Duke Ihenacho is threatening to deplace Mike Adams and his breakout performance in game 1.  Keeping up his agressive and relentless pursuit as well as supurb ability to cover Tight Ends so far.  Rahim Moore is quite safe and has had a great camp and well with moving on from last years fiasco and continued focus and training.  Finally Quinton Carter is healthy is making this competition very intriguing.  Ultimately I feel that they will keep all 4 safties however.

Tight End -  Julius Thomas vs Joel Dressen is the story this position.  Dressen's injury and continue knee pain are a set back for him and with Thomas finally healthy, he is a bigger, stronger, younger and faster target but lacks experience.  However, this camp, he's excellend in routes and ball skills which is what the Broncos were hoping for when they drafted him 2 years ago.  They want him to be somewhat like Jimmy Graham, former basketball player with good raw talent create huge mismatches for defenses.  It seems to be Thomas' position to loose at this point with Dressen's inability to practice in training camp.

I know the game is quite late, but it is on a Saturday soe hopefully you all will be able to come for great food and great people.  Enjoy your week!  As always:

I am a Broncos fan and I believe. I believe in Mile High Magic and Bleed Orange and Blue. I celebrate the drive and the Mile High Salute. I create the THUNDER, share in the common dream and will forever be a proud citizen of BRONCOS COUNTRY!
