We hope you're having a relaxing summer. Following in the theme of summer lazing, this month we will host no presentations. Instead, we will have an open project night. Bring your laptops, bring your ideas, and we will just hack about for a while.
Our novices can learn to set things up and get an app running. Our experienced developers can help them out, or dabble in new technology themselves. We will have the usual spread of excellent food and camaraderie.
Remember that Internet access is limited in our IBM space, so bring your Android phones and anything else to which you can tether. There are a number of tethering apps available: https://play.google.com/store/search?q=tether&c=apps.
IMPORTANT! If you do not already have a development environment installed, please download the necessary files prior to coming. They are very large, and the download will not be achievable over a tethered connection in any reasonable amount of time. We can go over development environment installation during the Meetup, but the download will not be possible. I'll bring a few DVDs with the software for back up, but you should definitely do the download in advance to save time.
You can download the necessary files from the Android Developers website. http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
There is also the early access preview of Android Studio. This is where the tools are going, you might take this opportunity to get ahead of the curve! http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/studio.html
See you there!
About the Denver Droids
Each 3rd Wednesday of the month, we meet at IBM in the DTC. From 5:30-6pm we will socialize and enjoy food and drinks. At 6pm we will either have a presentation about a new/interesting Android topic, or we'll work on a group project. If you are a new or experienced Android developer, or just someone that is curious about Android development, we hope you will join us and become a regular participant!
