Sorry, Droids!
We are canceling February's meetup at ExecuTrain.
In lieu of a formal meeting, we will meet at 6PM at the nearby Panera Bread for some networking, discussion, and socializing. Click on the link above for directions. If you have RSVP'd for the meeting already and don't think you will make it to Panera, we ask that you change your RSVP so that we will know how many people to expect.
We want to thank those that offered suggestions and options for a different meeting venue this month. Going forward, we will be looking for a new, reliable venue for our monthly meetings. If you have any ideas or know of anyone that might be able to help us, please let Mark and Greg know.
For those that can't make it tomorrow, we hope to see you next month. We have Sanjiv lined up to give an interesting presentation he has been working on.
This was a great article, Tony! Thanks so much for sharing.
I agree with every item on that list except item 6. Windows 8? C'mon, who uses that? We're Android developers, we use Macs, right? ;-)
Greg,
iTriage (formerly Healthagen) would be happy to host. Please let me know if you would like to.
I have been playing with Windows 8, But I will stick to Windows 7 for developing, for now. Mark, Macs are banned in my house. lol
Thanks to the stalwarts who made it out last night. We managed to go from zero to 'Hello, world!' in about two hours -- including the super-slow SDK download at Panera. The very simple app is still up on Permusoft, though I've moved it. Check out http://www.permusoft.com/droids/Hello.apk![]()
and ~/Hello.zip (the actual code). Remember that those are upper-case 'H's! Of course the best way to get started is to go to http://developer.android.com
and download the SDK!
Greg, thanks for the impromptu short course on building Android applications. It was great.
It was a great meeting. Greg's discussion was very helpful. Tks, David
Thanks Greg. That was an excellent demonstration. Very informative and helpful.
