Jack-Jack’s story –
For those of you that know me, you know that for quite some time now, I have been struggling with debt. Many years ago (about 10) I managed to get myself into some big debt. At the time I was employed and for my young age I was doing pretty well and even bought a new car. Well that was about the time that the financial system in this country went to shit. I had and lost several job by this time because of companies going out of business. At the same time, I was attending school; and racked up some nice student loan debt. So yeah, it’s not all the economies fault that I'm in the position I'm in, but it didn't help. I wasn't the smartest lad when it came to credit cards (holy crap look at this plastic piece of infinite money!) and couldn't pay them off as well. Thankfully I got myself out of that and for the last 4 years have been pulling myself up and out. Recently things caught up with me and my wages are now being garnished.
Now, my plan to get out of debt is a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, which will stop the garnishment; and erase most of the debt I have. The remainder debt will be outstanding student loans, which I will be able to set up a payment plan for; and no need to worry about being garnished anymore. This is where I'm asking for your help. I am struggling with the first initial payment to the lawyers to start this bankruptcy... That is where the party comes in…
A friend of mine was like "Dude, we have the resources, lets get the people to help!" And that's where we started coming up with this idea. I need $800. That number right there... I just can't even fathom. How small is that too? And yet its just so out of reach... So he was like "why not have a party, get people to pitch $20? BAM!" I admit, its weird.... I got into this mess myself and have been dealing with it for so long that I am to afraid to ask for help. That's the point of this really long letter, its me asking for help. Help to my friends (you guys) to pull me out of the water. All I need is 40 people to come out to this show and I will be set. Any extra cash will be used to pay the student loans off even that much quicker.
