REI Denver to Golden Gate Canyon Visitor's Center

This ride will take us from REI Denver to Golden and then climb Golden Gate Canyon Road for 13 miles, averaging 6.5% grade with a maximum of just over 10%. We will stop at the visitor’s center and then descend back to REI. Round trip will be just over 53 miles. Or ride as far as you want and turn around.

We’ll head out of the REI parking lot and turn left onto Water ST, which will change to 23rd after we cross I-25.  Take 23rd until Sloan’s Lake and take the bike path briefly to 26th. Proceed west on 26th until Kipling, which is the western boarder of Crown Hill Park. Turn right on Kipling and then left on 32nd and ride until Ford Street next to the Coors facility. Turn right on Ford and cross HWY 58 and turn right onto 7th Street briefly and then left onto Clear Creek Trail. The trail will intersect Golden Gate Canyon Road and we will turn left for the start of the climb to the visitor’s center. This is an out and back ride.

I have not done this specific ride, so there may need to be some tweaks done.

Here is a map of the route:

I'm glad you guys are tired too. I took a forced nap between 5 and 6pm last night!

I can't go this Saturday because I have to work until noon, but I have been wondering about this route so I'd love to hear what you think about it after.

Lauren, it's a great ride with mostly steady climbing, but it definitely has some steep stuff. I would absolutely do it again!

Hey mark. I usually go a diff way out there but this may work just as well. Riding sat with a friend who hasn't been out much yet though so we'll probably keep it real easy.

I typically go out 32nd, but this should be less traffic. I'll be doing a lot of Saturday rides so keep in touch.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
