Boulder's largest and friendliest farmers market opens April 6th!
The Boulder County Farmers' Markets take pride in bringing you locally grown vegetables, meats, fruits, flowers, plants, gourmet cheeses and wines sold by the farmers that produce them. While you're purchasing your fresh vegetables and fruits (many of them organically grown) enjoy a tasty pastry from a local bakery or a meal created by local chefs. Check them out here: http://www.boulderfarmers.org/
This farmers' market is certified 'Colorado Proud.' What does that mean, you ask?
Farmers Markets who meet the Colorado Proud labeling guidelines and have been approved by the Colorado Department of Agriculture Marketing Division, are eligible to use the Colorado Proud Logo.
The COLORADO PROUD logo maybe used to promote any food or agricultural product that has been grown, raised or processed in Colorado. Fresh produce, herbs, grains and horticultural products must be grown in Colorado. Livestock must be raised in Colorado. Value-added consumer foods (jams, salsas, sauces, chips, dairy, sausage, jerky, etc.) must be manufactured in Colorado and companies are encouraged to use ingredients that are grown or raised in Colorado. Non-food items must be at least 50 percent agricultural origin by weight, and that agricultural base must have been grown, raised or processed in Colorado
Supporting Colorado Proud Farmers Markets strengthens agriculture, local communities and local economies. For more information about the Colorado Proud Program, visit their website: www.coloradoproud.org
IT MEANS IT'S LOCAL FOOD, LOCAVORES! :)
BE SURE TO BRING CASH, as many vendors do not take credit!
Don't forget Boulder parking garages are FREE on Saturdays, but metered parking is NOT! 14th and Walnut and 11th and Walnut are probably the two closest garages.
We'll meet at Modmarket at Canyon and 13th. Modmarket is a farm fresh eatery with a local, organic philosophy. They'll have some great quick breakfast options and coffee, of course! If you'd like to walk around as a group, that's fine, or if you want to check in, grab a coffee with us and branch off, that's fine too of course. Whatever you decide to do, I encourage you to check out your local farmer's market at any time!
