Denver iOS Meetup - Ruby Motion

  • This location is shown only to members

Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays! Our first meetup of 2013 will be on Tuesday, January 15th at SendGrid's Denver offices. Please note this is a different location from past meetups, on Larimer Square.

Tim Segraves and Ben Golden (of SendGrid) will be sharing how Ruby Motion helped them enter the iOS development community. Tim and Ben are both experienced Ruby developers at SendGrid, but had no experience with iOS development until they picked up Ruby Motion. They'll chronicle their bootstrapping experience with Ruby Motion, and some tips and pointers for getting started with Ruby Motion. If you're a Ruby developer considering Ruby Motion this talk will likely be perfect. If you are experienced in native iOS, you'll get to see what iOS development looks like from a Ruby Developer's perspective, and if you are experienced in Ruby Motion, please come meet some new people in the community and share your expertise!

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Kevin

During the Q&A, I stepped out for a bit and there was a side discussion about Titanium, a cross-platform mobile development technology (build your mobile app in Titanium, compile into native Android and iOS!). I run the Boulder/Denver Titanium Users Group (www.meetup.com/boulderdenvertitanium). Like any technology, Titanium may not be the right solution for everything. But before anyone dismisses it, I invite you to come to my meetup and ask questions. You may discover that Titanium is a simple and powerful technology for building many types of native mobile apps. Thanks.

Sorry if I offended, Vui. I fully plan to attend one of your meetups when I don't have a schedule conflict. I am speaking from SOME knowledge of the Titanium platform (from your presentation and from other trust sources with direct experience), but I'd like to hear a more precise definition of the product's "sweet spot" from its practitioners (or even better, from its producers) when I go...that would make an excellent presentation *hint hint*. :-)

No worries, Kevin. I would be happy to have a more detailed discussion with you about Titanium the next time we meet. And of course, you are always welcome to attend the Titanium meetup whenever you can make it!
