After-work trail care right in our backyard. Help out our sport! It's hard to say no to this, since it's so close and, let's face it, undemanding on one's available time for mtn biking. :)
Time: 5:30pm - until the sun starts to go down
Location: Matthews-Winters Park. Meet in parking lot at the main trailhead. Look for the shovels. We're obvious. :)
What to bring: work gloves, water (e.g., hydration pak), clothing layers, comfortable shoes (e.g., hiking shoes), & snacks (if you're like me & can't live without dinner before 7pm)
Registration is encouraged. Register here: http://www.minicrew.org/index.php?option=com_fabrik&view=form&fabrik=4&random=0&Itemid=168
The Plan: We will work along the Village Ride trail. There will be something for everyone, from light trimming and pruning, to the more moderate task of clearing drains.
MiniCrew is a group local mountain bikers in Jefferson County, Colorado that created a volunteer program to assist in the maintenance on JeffCo Open Space Trails. The Mini Crew Program is designed as an after-work-couple-of-hours volunteer opportunity. Meeting on the 3rd Thursday of the month May through September, these mountain bikers join efforts to proactively improve trail conditions and spread goodwill to all trail users.
There are 3 more scheduled throughout the summer: July 19, August 16, and Sept. 20. I will post them as the date draws closer.
***There is NO excuse for using the trails & not giving back to the mtn biking community.***
