The Denver Photo Hikers Message Board › Denver Photo Hikers Succeed at the Tubbs Romp to Stomp Out Breast Cancer 5k
Today, the Denver Photo Hikers moonlighted as the Denver Photo Stompers for a great cause- The Tubbs Romp to Stomp Out Breast Cancer 5k Snowshoe in Frisco, CO. The proceeds for this event go to two different services via the Susan G. Komen Colorado Chapter: 75% provides breast cancer screening in low-income / under-funded areas; 25% to breast cancer research.
Not only did we all have a blast, but we succeeded as well! Out of 118 teams, we came in 6th place for fundraising!! And a total raised of $1760, surpassing our goal of $1500! We had 12 participants who all put in an enormous effort for fundraising. Mollie was our BIG SUPERSTAR for her portion of $560 raised, and for massaging the major cramp out of my foot at the very start of the walk! Kathy wins the award for perseverance and "Most Athletic" since not only did she do the 5k walk on snowshoes, but she also preceeded the walk with the 3k RUN (timed race) on snowshoes!
For our next participation, we are going to do it even bigger with more participants and more money raised! Get ready for it! We will put on special fundraising events throughout the next 12 months for next year's affair! We may even make a weekend of it with a big rental house next year! Thanks to Mollie, Steve, Sue, Kathy, Loree, Shannon + Kara, Pam, Randy, Justin, and Sam for your hard efforts and great spirit! Special thanks to John Bielick for being our team photographer! :)
Congrats to my fellow teammates!
Stay tuned for all of our fun photos....
